Sedona, Arizona September 08

We had some free time so we decided to drive up north and spend some time in the cooler country and get away from the desert heat. As it turned out it was still almost 100 degrees each day but the evenings were in the 60's. On the first day we did some driving around and Kathy found a great estate sale of a local artist that had just moved and was downsizing. She found about 20 originals to give as gifts and to decorate our new home.

We also visited the local brewery (Oak Creek Brewery) for lunch and we sampled all of their beers. Don't let the picture fool you, they are only 5 ounces each (look at the lemon in the second one from the left). The sampler that we got was called the Seven Dwarfs and their seasonal was called Snow White so if you wanted to try them all you ordered the "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." They brewed a light lager, amber ale, nut brown ale, pale ale, red, hefeweizen, porter and a stout.

On Saturday we decided to tour some of the local wineries including the Javelina Winery, above. They all had decent wines but were rather spendy. We also went to a winery in a town called Jerome and the town itself was literally cut right into the side of a mountain. The road going through town was barely a lane and a half and parking was next to impossible to find.

Here is a picture of our unit, it was good sized and new but did not have that homey feeling we were looking for. We did have a wonderful time and on the way out of town we stopped at a local fruit and vegetable stand and bought some of the best tomatoes that we have ever had.

That is a cool beer sampler.

You know, it's really too bad you guys don't travel all that much.

You really need to get out and see the world.

Love the Blog! Can't wait to see where you end up next...perhaps the Bluegrass!
