Rose Bowl Trip Dec 06 - Jan 07

After finding out that Michigan was going to be playing in the Rose Bowl we suprised Kathy's aunt and uncle (Jane and Randy Hulstrom) with a trip out to see their favorite team play in the "Grand Daddy of Them All" the 2007 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California against the USC Trojans! We met them in Las Vegas and drove to southern California. We spent some time in San Diego (R&J's favorite place on Earth) and then on to the game. Unfortunately the Wolverines did not fare very well and ended up losing 32-18. It was truly a trip of a lifetime and we will always remember all of the fun that we had.

Here is Randy in front of a metaphysical shop that he and Jane had found on a previous visit, the Mystical Dragon in Carlsbad, California.

Here are Jane and Randy in a gazebo in Scripp's Park near Seal Beach in San Diego, California.

This is the Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island in San Diego California. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The Marilyn Monroe movie "Some Like It Hot" was filmed here in 1959.

Oh, by the way it was also my 35th birthday on this trip. We found these items already in our hotel room for me when we arrived! Unfortunately nobody was being creative, they were left over from a previous guest. Oh well I got a kick out of it. (That's a candle in my right hand.)

We stopped in Temecula, California (great wine country but not nearly as well known nor expensive as Napa or Sonoma) for a winery tour that we were members of and went to lunch at another.

Here we are (Randy, Chris, Kathy, Jane) outside of the stadium waiting for the gates to open.

Here are our seats! They were about 20 rows from the field behind the Michigan endzone. We were level with the bottom bar of the goal post. Thanks again Jill and Jarod for the hook up.
